defining your happiness

Enjoy the simple things and be grateful for the treasures you already have.

Why do we get upset when we are stuck in traffic, no wifi, not possessing the newest iPhone or not getting enough likes compared to normal. I’m guilty of all of this too.
We very easily get caught up in modern societys’ perception of “not having enough” and defining our happiness from that, which is ultimately taking us away from the things that really matter.

This photo was captured in a remote community in South East Asia, where money isn’t really a concern to the locals, except just living day-by-day with what they have.
It blows me away that they never stop smiling and laughing. Houses are not blocked in by fencing, they live together in tight communities bringing up the children all together. They have nothing we consider valuable in a first world country. No tv, electricity or car, no one on the internet and walk miles to work and school. None of the stuff we are so addicted to, that we think we must have to be happy. Just family, kindness and joy. They are proud, no judgement. There is a beauty that is always there.

So a friendly reminder to keep smiling and be grateful for the little things you value.
